Iran’s ‘Tattoo’ to attend Oscars-qualifying festival in Australia

Iranian short ‘Tattoo’ is to attend the Flicker Int'l Short Film Festival in Australia.

Iranian short ‘Tattoo’ has been set to attend the 2020 edition of the Flicker International Short Film Festival in Australia.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that the 29th edition of Flicker fest will screen ‘Tattoo’ directed by Farhad Delaram.

“A young Iranian woman is trying to renew her driver’s license, but when officials notice scars and a tattoo on her wrist they become suspicious,” a synopsis for the film reads.

The 15-minute film previously garnered the Crystal Bear at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) in Germany.

It also won the Best Short Film award at the 17th Tirana International Film Festival in Albania.

The film brought Behdokht Valian the Best Actress Award at the 37th Sulmona International Film Festival (SIFF) in Italy.

The Flicker fest is Australia’s leading Academy accredited short film festival.

It is considered in international circles as “the leading Australian competitive short film festival and increasingly filmmakers view it as one of the main festivals on the world circuit”, according the event’s website.

The 29th edition of the Flicker fest will take place on January 10-19, 2020.
